Dear Friends,
This week, 9 men and 1 woman prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
It has been a very busy time due to the many who have been contacting me with their interest in getting saved.
This group of people includes a video game software developer in Canada, a merchandise distributor in Chile, an undergraduate student at Yale, a couple in Florida who build home health (food and exercise) apps, a software developer/novelty trader in Delaware, an executive in the apparel business in Greece, a power plant worker in Kentucky, an artist in South Carolina, and a hospital imaging technician in Georgia. There were a few others who were great apologists in their own minds, who met with me just to have a contest. And a few others that simply did not show up for their appointments. So it was a full week on the evangelism front. Below are a few of their writings as sent to:
(Bachelor of Science in physics/Astrophysics) I struggle with the resurrection part of Jesus, in terms of as a reality in our physical world, and it not just being some spiritual metaphor or something like that. I can fully accept that Jesus was real, and lived, taught and died all according the gospels, but I struggle with the physical nature of his resurrection. I saw your website come by on YouTube, and thought it might be a sign from God, so I decided I would reach out! Cheers,
Good Afternoon,… from Chile, nice to meet you. I just found this e-mail adress from a John Lennox video, and it did made me curious about the topic. I have a lot of superficial apologetics knowledge here and there, but I always seem to have this skepticism, this space of doubt that never makes me reach true faith. I’m a deist, I see evidence of intentionality in the creation of this universe, I’m not blind about it or arrogant about it, so I believe there is or there was a creator with intention. I’m starting to connect to Christian faith, going more to my church, but something is missing, my mind see logic and rationality about almost everything, so I need to understand if a step from deism to Christian theism is the way. Why? If this has the chance to be true, it means everything. I’m looking forward at your response.
Dr. Tour, I’m a current 19 y/o sophomore at Yale. I was raised Catholic but no longer actively believe in Christianity’s metaphysical claims. However, my mind is still open to all possibilities, and I would love to speak with you and learn more about your beliefs. I deeply hope that you can persuade me to believe again. I miss having faith! Best,
After our meeting, he wrote how he was already doing the Bible reading and Bible study homework the very first night.
Hello Dr. Tour, My name is ________ and I recently came across your invitation for people who do not believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus to spend an hour discussing it with you, and I would like to take you up on the offer. To be honest, I am still trying to figure out what I believe. For most of my life I was largely indifferent to religion, but over the past few years I have become increasingly interested in Christianity and I dare say that I have had my first actual experience of God’s grace very recently. I would not say that I reject the resurrection outright, but neither can I say that I am convinced of it. I would be interested in hearing the strongest case for it from your perspective. I am not looking for an argument or a debate, only an honest conversation. If your offer is still open, I would be grateful for the opportunity to speak with you. Kind regards,
Dr. Tour, I saw your instragram post about emailing you if you are struggling with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is the one main sticking point in my continuance in faith even though I attend Catholic Mass weekly and am considering converting. This one instance in the story is my main sticking point. I wish you well. Very Respectfully,
Hi James, I was raised in the church and I have experienced God and fully believe that he exist and is the Christian God. However I really struggle with the concept of Jesus Christ. The more I’ve focused on it the more I have realized I believe he existed and he lived a perfect sinless life but I can’t seem to get the resurrection engrained in my beliefs. Could you help me out?
I heard an analogy this week. Imagine losing your four-year-old child in a public park. Nothing else in the world matters beyond locating your child and holding them in your arms. Every ounce of your strength is set on securing your baby. Your employment is no longer a consideration, money loses all value, and public image means nothing. You only must find your child. Is this how God feels about his lost ones?
Luke 15:3–7 He told them this parable: "Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it? When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing. When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance."
Ezekiel 34:11–12 "For thus says the Lord GOD, 'Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. As a shepherd cares for his herd in the day when he is among his scattered sheep, so I will care for My sheep...'"
Why did Jesus come to the Earth?
Luke 19:10 "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
God bless,
Jim Tour
