Dear Friends,
This week, 1 woman prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
A Jewish Russian-born physician now living in the US for the past 27 years, wrote to me, being unsure of the physical resurrection of Jesus. She wrote, in part:
“Good evening, Dr. Tour,
My name is ___________. I have subscribed to your YouTube channel and watched many videos published there. I would like indeed to hear from you about proof of the Christ resurrection. To me, this is more an allegory than a material event, as are many stories and events in the Old and New Testament. If you could indeed respond with your explanation, I would greatly appreciate it. Sincerely, ____________”
This is a common position among many who would otherwise profess faith in Jesus, as she did. After so much physical evidence for the resurrection, still many church-goers think that the resurrection is allegorical, or a spiritual event rather than a physical resurrection. Interestingly, my last three teachings in the college Bible class were on the physical resurrection of Jesus. The first of the three posted today on YouTube, https://youtu.be/UK4Kxg_Pw4A , and the next two will follow on YouTube over the next two Sundays. The reason some churchgoers hold the “allegorical view,” I think, is that nobody ever really presented to them all the evidence for the resurrection. Nor have they contemplated what their position would mean in light of I Corinthians 15. If presented, they would receive it.
So this woman and I met, and I shared the evidence for the resurrection. She joined me in prayer.
1 Corinthians 15:13–17:
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised;
14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.
15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.
16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised;
17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
God bless,
Dr. James Tour
