Dear Friends,

This week two men prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.

The first was a high school student who wrote:

“Subject: Believe for physical resurrection of Jesus Christ

“Hello Dr. Tour I was recently watching a YouTube video that you uploaded with William Lane Craig and John Lennox. I’m aware at this point the video is about two years old however in the video you mentioned your email so that you could communicate why you believe in the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ. I lived in a culturally Christian household my whole life but my family were not devout believers and neither was I. This changed when in the beginning of high school when I got into theology and different believe systems. I did believe during this period but as time went on I started to realize I was having problems with my faith. I continued my faith journey but at this point I was practically only guided by fear. I was afraid of eternal damnation, death, god’s wrath, and what religion was the right one. I am now a junior in high school and I want nothing more than to believe again, but I simply cannot. If I could I would start believing immediately, but I am just not sure if my brain works like that. I think that if I ever start believing again it will be because of historical evidence of the resurrection. I appreciate your channel, as well as the contributions from Dr. Craig and Professor Lennox in my spiritual journey.”

We met, and I covered the historical evidence for the resurrection. He listened well and immediately received and prayed with me and committed to daily scripture reading, starting in John, for 15 minutes every morning for the rest of his life. Reading as I taught to him: each verse twice, then dissecting each verse, asking God to teach him. And to weekly Bible study for 13 weeks. This young man was crying out to believe, so it was very easy.

The next was a man who wrote as briefly as possible:

“I would like to learn.”

When asked if he believed in the physical resurrection of Jesus, he replied,

“ don’t have data or facts to answer this question, hence I reached out to learn more about this. Thank you. Regards, __

We met. He is in his late 30s and he is unmarried. He lives in India and is from a well-to-do family in the petroleum and real estate business. He oversees the family’s corporate finances and investments. He is an avid reader, and he just watched the movie, “The Passion of the Christ”. I had seen that move in 2004 and haven’t seen it since. The movie struck him, and he had to learn more. I shared, and he was very open. He received the message with great openness and heartily agreed to the daily Bible reading (for the rest of his life) and the 13-week Bible study. He said, “Yes, I want to learn!” when I questioned if he planned to follow through on the assignment.

My heart was so stirred with joy after seeking these back-to-back conversions that I had a hard time falling asleep that night. The message of the gospel is powerful. I find it odd that believers would adopt a different approach or seek to diminish the centrality of the resurrection when preaching.

Jeremiah 29:13
You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

God bless,

Dr. James Tour
