Dear Friends:

This week one man prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.

The man is around 70 years old, disabled, living in Canada.

He wrote:

“I believe in a creator and a spirit of Love but can’t as of yet accept the Jesus as described by modern religion. I very much respect your knowledge & insight, whenever I want to hear a good presentation on Faith in Jesus I turn to your videos. I have a real hard time with the trinity, it is my largest stumbling block. My hope is that you as a past (?, sorry not sure if that is appropriate or how you present exactly) Jew can help me, so I take your offer to talk. I am so lost and in despair. I am guilty that I mostly think about God when there is death close by. My parents both passed recently & my 2 best friends, both amazing dogs, one passed 2 Xmas ago & now the other is dying slowly from kidney failure. I am so depressed yet somehow I know I need to give Jesus a chance, please try and help me believe, & bless you dear sir for this opportunity.

Most sincerely,”

There is no failing with a cry like that: “please try and help me believe.” We met. He was cordial and open. I gave him the simple gospel message, with no modifications, no clever wranglings, just the time-proven gospel message. He readily received the word and prayed aloud with me. He guaranteed me that he will follow through on the prescribed daily morning reading starting in John 1:1, for 15 minutes every morning, and the 13-week Bible study with Chuck Lloyd in “Growing in Christ.” He was sincere. He was seeking, and he found.

Mark 9:24
Immediately, the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”

Saving faith is not the absence of doubts. It is bringing your doubts to Jesus.

Luke 19:10
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

We seek God, but He seeks us first.

Luke 11:9–10
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

God bless,

Dr. James Tour
