Dear Friends,
This week eight men prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
The first five men were together at a table over lunch in my home. Three were from India, one from China, and one from the US. The one from the US is a young man with whom I shared about eight years ago, when he was about 16. I had no follow-up because he was just visiting Houston for one weekend with his parents at the time. Several years later, he started attending the college Bible study, but I was continually unsure about where he really stood in his faith. The Chinese man is a researcher in the medical school. His English was very poor, and I suppose he only understood about 30% of what I said. I have paired him with a Christian who is a native Mandarin speaker for discipleship. The three Indians are all around 30 years old, with two in graduate school and one working as a coder. I couldn’t tell if they were just being cordial or if they were genuinely accepting of the gospel message. Time will tell. The Indians and the American have been set up with Daniel Land for discipleship.
The next is a man from France, also around 30 years old, who works as a sound engineer in a recording studio. He wrote,
Good morning Dr. Tour, I do not believe in the veracity of Jesus rising from the dead, but I’m curious to know why you believe it is the truth. Thanks, ___________________
We met, and he quietly listened and received the word. He is now engaged in daily reading and Bible study with Chuck Lloyd. He assured me that he’d follow through on the assignments that I had given him.
The next is a man in his 20s, a young lawyer in the UK. He grew up in a Christian home, but after living the past two years with a vocal atheist, he no longer believed in the resurrection. So he “felt like a fraud.” After one hour he embraced the resurrection and agreed to daily reading in the scriptures. He will meet weekly with Daniel Land for instruction in apologetics. That is a topic of great study for Daniel.
The last is a man in his 40s, living in Silicon Valley, who has started and sold healthcare software businesses and continues to do the same. He is married with several children. He could not understand the need for Jesus to have resurrected from the dead, or the need for any emphasis on that. After one hour, he accepted the physical resurrection and agreed to the two assignments: daily reading and being assigned a mentor by Chuck Lloyd for a 13-week discipleship program.

And they will come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.
The gospel. It’s the power of God for salvation.
