Dear Friends,
This week, one young woman prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
The woman is a college sophomore, and she wrote via the Jesus and Science Foundation website:
“You changed the life of the smartest person I know, ___________ _____________, who encouraged me to write to you. Although I am not a Christian, I admire and follow the story of Jesus as the finest moral teacher ever written. I have tried to believe in God, going to church and youth groups, but I have never believed it. I hope it’s real.”
Although I do not personally know the smartest individual to whom she referred, Barbara Lloyd and I met with her by Zoom. She listened intently for 1 hour, without a single question, to the gospel story and evidence for the resurrection. And then she readily prayed aloud, proclaiming her sinnerhood, the Lordship of Jesus, and his resurrection. She agreed to the daily reading of scriptures for 15 minutes each morning, starting in John, and the 13-week Bible study with Barbara. This one was so straightforward and easy because she was obviously a seeker for years. She admired the stories of Jesus; she was trying to believe, she has been to church, and she had hoped it was real. This is a classic case of seeking, for which there is a promise of finding.
Luke 11:9–10
So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.
Jeremiah 29:13
You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
1 Chronicles 28:9 (David to Solomon)
If you seek Him, He will let you find Him...
This one is surrounded by promises. The seeker in Jesus shall find salvation. Blessed be Jesus, who is so kind to us.
God bless,
Jim Tour
