Dear Friends,
This week one man prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
A father wrote this week saying that his adult son “knows the typical arguments for the resurrection, but doesn’t believe it.” I sensed the longing of a father’s heart to see his son saved. I told the father to have his son write to me, requesting the meeting, because that is required for me to meet with people: they need to make the request themselves. Thankfully, I shortly thereafter received a message from the son:
“Hey, my name is __________. My dad showed me you as a resource. Would love to set up a time for a Zoom call. Thanks.”
He’s 20 years old. We met, I gave him the gospel message for 25 minutes, showing him how I came to this decision in my life. Then I spent 30 minutes discussing the resurrection, going through the historical evidence. I am not sure that I had anything beyond the “typical arguments” for the resurrection; nonetheless, this young man readily received the message and prayed aloud with me. We discussed daily scripture reading for 15 minutes every morning, and I committed him to weekly Bible study for 13 weeks via Chuck Lloyd, who will assign a mentor.
I was saved at 18, before I had spent too much of my life in spiritual and physical dissipation. I always rejoice in my heart when I see a young person saved because it can prevent a multitude of future sins and pain in their life.
Romans 10:10
for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
That is the result: Salvation.
God bless,
Dr. James Tour
