This week one man prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
Call him Alan. He is Jewish, in his 20s and a professional Olympic athlete in Israel. He wrote:
“Hey my name is _______. I’m a XX year old from israel, and the question of god and the origin of life has always been on of my main interests. I’ve been an atheist my entire life and lately through watching your lectures and researching the area of origin of life, I’m doubting my entire belief system. Can you help me put my faith in Jesus Christ?”
“Can you help me put my faith in Jesus Christ?” I was skeptical because it seemed too direct, like a setup. But there he was. A very athletic looking young man living in Jerusalem. We talked for a while about his sport, his neighborhood in Jerusalem, and our commonalities since my daughter and her family live very close to him. Then I gave Alan the simple gospel message, substituting the name “Jesus” with “Yeshua” as often as I could think of it. 1 hour later he was praying the prayer of salvation according to the texts noted above. We also looked at Isaiah 52:13 – 53:12. It was a straightforward leading to Yeshua. No arguments. A few simple questions, like, “Why don’t the rabbis believe these things?” That is a common question from Jews. Easily answered.
I excitedly got Alan connected with Mitch Glaser, President of Chosen People Ministry, https://chosenpeople.com/presidents-introduction/. Mitch will follow up directly, and he is also planning to be in Israel in 2 weeks, so they can visit. Furthermore, Mitch has a team in Jerusalem who can follow up with Alan immediately.
“Can you help me put my faith in Jesus Christ?” We have seen before such statements:
Acts 16:30 - "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
Acts 8:30 - Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
Acts 2:37 - Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brethren, what shall we do?’”
Luke 18:18 - “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
John 3:2 - “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God… how can a man be born when he is old?”
These presentations on Origin of Life continue to draw people to the Lord. I am delighted to serve the Lord in this nano-sized domain in the universe, through the topic of life’s origin, to use it as a springboard for the gospel. I love to see people saved. More, Lord, Many more. Glory to Jesus, the Son of God!
