Dear Friends,
This week, one man and one woman prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
The man is a lawyer in his mid-60s living in Australia. He wrote:
“I do not believe the accounts of the resurrection in the gospels prove the resurrection of Christ or that there is any way to prove the resurrection of Christ with any real certainty.”
When we met, he said, “The biggest mistake I ever made was to have rejected Christ when I was 19 years old, and to have gone the way of the world,” and “my life is an utter mess.” He has one daughter in her 20s and, “she is an atheist.”
I presented the simple gospel message, and the outwardly hardened lawyer readily received the word of truth with tears and prayed with me. He will be in daily scripture reading per our agreement, and Chuck Lloyd will engage him in Bible study for 13 weeks. His parting word to me was, “I’m in,” meaning that he had every intention of following through to the end this time.
Joel 2:25 “Then I will make up to you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten.”
The next, a woman, is a software engineer in San Francisco in her early 30s, and an Ivy League graduate. She wrote:
Subject: Request to zoom meeting to believe in Jesus Christ
Hi Dr. James, I saw one of your interviews related to the New Testament. May I set up a one on one zoom meeting with you? I started reading books about the Bible and plan on getting one soon to read through it. Life has suddenly taken a turn, and I feel stricken to find my path with God and Jesus Christ, and want to hear your story on why you belief for the resurrection. Sincerely,
Barbara Lloyd and I met with her. She listened attentively, received the message, and prayed while shedding tears the entire hour. She then told us that her mother was a devout Christian. I told her to tell her mother what just happened. She then replied that her mother died one month ago.
She did not own a Bible, so I sent her a link to the YouVersion Bible App so that she could start reading daily in the morning. Barbara mailed her a nice Bible and the two will meet for weekly Bible study.
Ezekiel 36:26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.”
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing one become born again. The hardened soul melts, and the grieving soul receives new life.
God bless,
Jim Tour
