This week one man prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
The former actor, late 50s, alcoholic who has not had a drink in the 30 years since he’s been in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), living in London, England, wrote that he believed that Jesus, “rose from the thoughts of death,” but did not believe that Jesus ever rose physically. He wanted me to prove to him that Jesus rose physically from the dead. We met. He was a pleasant man. Not contesting. Just listening. I have seen that many men who have gone through AA realize that they are people in need and they are open to being helped. They realize that they are sinners in need of a savior. After one hour, he was confessing that the evidence for the physical resurrection was very strong, so he prayed with me. He is now in a daily Bible reading program, and he agreed to 13-week Bible study with Chuck Lloyd.
Acts 14:8-10
8 At Lystra a man was sitting who had no strength in his feet, lame from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. 9 This man was listening to Paul as he spoke, who, when he had fixed his gaze on him and had seen that he had faith to be made well, 10 said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he leaped up and began to walk.
