This week, one man prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.

This was a man in the UK who wrote:

Hello Dr James, I saw a clip of John Lennox saying to contact this email if not convinced by the resurrection of Jesus. The thing is, I’ve searched for many years, I’m 40 years old, and for a long time I have desperately wanted to believe in Christianity. I see the explanation it offers for our condition as the only possible hope that makes any sense to me. I have a pretty good understanding of Christianity and of the basic arguments for God, but I can’t just can’t believe in God. I feel hopeless and nihilistic without God, but I have to be intellectually honest with myself. I want someone to convince me so badly so that I can believe in God, but it’s just never happened. I have so many rational arguments against the Bible that stand in my way , yet I feel that Christ is what I hunger for every day . I was wondering if you could possibly help me in some way my problems are too many to write here, but I want to believe in God so very much. I feel I have to resolve the issue before I die, so I can either put it to bed and get on with life, or come to know God. My fear is still being without faith on my deathbed, knowing I didn’t devote myself fully to finding God. I take this issue so seriously because if it’s true, then nothing matters more. I don’t know what else to write, I hope you can help me, possibly. Thanks for your time and for your contribution to our world with your marvelous mind. He lives in the UK, but my only one-on-one meeting time was at 7 PM US Central Time, which means it was 1 AM for him. Nonetheless, he was going to make it work. He works for his local city government. We met, and he was wide awake and ready. And sure enough, he was ready to enter the kingdom, and he entered with tears. That was foreseen when he wrote, “for a long time I have desperately wanted to believe in Christianity.” I set him up with Chuck Lloyd for mentorship.

“And they will come from east and west and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.” Luke 13:29
