Dear Friends,
This week two men prayed with me according to the pattern of Luke 18:13 & Romans 10:9.
The first man is an artist around 60 years old living in Germany. He had only seen one of my videos via his YouTube algorithm, which mentioned our new AI device design. https://youtu.be/o-S8FFn2OXQ The 10-second commercial on the resurrection caught his attention, and thoroughly surprised him. He emailed me:
“Subject: Inquiry about the Resurrection “
Good morning,
I hope this email finds you well. I was watching a video with Dr. Tour and he kindly offered his email address for those who may have questions about the resurrection of Jesus. I am seeking and have come to believe that there is a creator of our universe (and a finer tuner of it) and a creator of life on Earth. I have been exploring the historicity of Jesus, as I was ignorant of so much around the verifiable history of Jesus. My last internal sticking point is the resurrection. If you would kindly be able to point me towards resources on that front I would be most grateful.
For these meetings I require that they have a WiFi connection and a video camera turned on. So he showed up to the meeting using his cell phone, in a big winter coat and hood, an LED light attached to his hood illuminating his face, and standing outside in the snow near a place where he could get a WiFi signal. He stood out in the cold for 1 hour, finally shivering, as I took him through the gospel. He went through an ordeal to hear the message, which is a sign of interest. He received, having never heard anything like this before. He agreed to the assignment of daily Bible reading and 13 weeks of Bible study. I sent him the Bible App and Chuck Lloyd will work with him on the Bible study.
Luke 19:3–4
“Zacchaeus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd… so he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him.”
Jeremiah 29:13
“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
The second is a man in his 30s living in the UK. He is a former Pub [bar] tender and construction worker, but now out of work due to an injury. He never watched my videos. A fellow electronic gamer in the US suggested that he contact me to hear the gospel. So he did. He is a very nice fellow, but I had an experience that I had never had before while sharing. He had about four large glasses of beer, maybe more, over the 75 minutes of sharing. He apologized for that but said he was in such discomfort due to his injury and that the alcohol helped him to deal with the pain. Over the sharing time, the beer surely had an effect; by the end, his eyes and speech showed the signs. Nonetheless, (or maybe because of) he gladly prayed with me. I probed him directly, and he committed to me, saying, “Absolutely!” that he would follow through on reading 15-minutes each morning in the Bible and weekly Bible study for 13 weeks with Chuck Lloyd. He showed me that he had four Bibles on his shelf, along with many other books since he is an avid reader.
Though a few people in the Bible were perceived to be drunk when receiving God’s message, like the apostles on Pentecost and Hanna at Shiloh, generally drunkenness led to problems, like with Noah, Nabal, and possibly the sons of Aaron. I pray that this young man keeps his commitment, and his life changes. That is how the gospel works.
God bless,
Dr. James Tour
